Brian Kally began his career in 1981 with Drakensberg Logistics, a transport and distribution services company based in KwaZulu-Natal.
In 1999 Drakensberg Logistics expanded and opened a distribution center in the Free State for Nestle South Africa. Brian was afforded the opportunity to head the operation and was appointed Branch Manager. Within 6 months Drakensberg Logistics progressed rapidly and attained blue chip principals such as Unilever SA, Smithkline Glaxo, Kelloggs SA, Beacon Sweets, Johnson and Johnson, Kraft Foods, Colgate Palmolive and Unifoods. The company has since grown with clients such as National Brands, Inco Labs. At that stage, Tibbet and Britten (later acquired by DHL) engaged a 50% joint venture with Drakensberg Logistics.
In 2001 Brian Kally was appointed Director of Drakensberg Logistics. In 2006, the Managing Director of Drakensberg Logistics, Mr S.M Pillay decided on an Enterprise Development Program an outsourced the companies secondary distribution to Brian, who served him as an employee for 25 years, giving birth to Arrow Logistics. Shortly thereafter, Arrow Logistics acquired a few vehicles and today has a fleet of over 60 trucks ranging from 1 – 36 tons. In April 2013, Arrow Logistics was awarded the contract for National Line-Haul servicing of the South African Post Office between Cape Town, Bloemfontein, Upington and Durban. Arrow Logistics has been appointed on the Transet SOC Limited panel of service providers since 2012 and has provided Transnet with ad hoc transportation.
In July 2013, Arrow Logistics secured a contract with the Department Education (Free State) to undertake the delivery of its Examination and Assessments to schools throughout the Free State, which included the Grade 12 National examination papers. In October 2013, Arrow Logistics was appointed by Milling Logistics (Pty) Ltd, a subsidiary of Imperial Retail Logistics, for the transportation of all Tiger Consumer Brands grain products throughout the Free State, Northern Cape and Lesotho for a 5 year period. Arrow Logistics is a family owned business with a wealth of over 35 years experience in Logistics. Tresa Kally’s sound financial knowledge has seen the business improve operational strategies and gained momentum in sustaining a profitable status.
In November 2013, Alastair Kally joined Arrow Logistics as Legal Director and his expertise and past work experience as an Attorney at Webber Wentzel Attorneys adds tremendous value to compliance, health safety and business development of the company. Our fundamental statement that “the only thing permanent is change” has proven itself in that the company has introduced new technology to advance its processes in the industry and provide a more effective service to its Principals. Having its head office in Central South Africa enables the company to provide a more effective service throughout the Republic and one of the reasons why Arrow Logistics enjoys a minimum 95% service level delivery with all of its principals.
The company currently has over 120 employees and enjoys a BEE level 3 status.
